A light forgotten.

I do remember you, your brown curly hair that stole scene entirely The day my eyes met yours, and how I dreamed of having you in my arms Then they moved; your lips and out came the most beautiful voice that to an angels You stood no judge and took me in to a warm embrace Your heart felt the sorrow, and scars that my soul carried, and yet you held me Hours came to be days and days came to be months and our hearts grew I awaited the sun to wake up and stand on top of the day, so that I could see you again Your laugh, your scent, your smile that drove my heart to swell in affection The butterflies that you made come to life within my stomach grew and I took flight Then only the heavens were the limit A glimpse of hidden light I called you, and a verse I wrote for you that stole your heart I too recall the glow in your eyes as I held you and kissed you You said it was too good to be true, and then the truth came to surface Fear was rich in your heart, and slowly you drove me away And I stood to do nothing but see and feel the fire draw to not exist Seconds became weeks and all in that you became a memory A beautiful memory that I will not forget, as I became stronger at your side I wonder if you think of me, as I think of you Our first kiss beneath the sun, our first hug our first laugh I see your smile from a distance every now and then, beautiful still I will always think of you and what we could of had You are a star forgotten

Immigrants in Our Own Land

Personally, I am a quarter Navajo Native American. I can identify with that part of my ancestry, but 3/4 of me is an immigrant. I'm 25% Moroccan and a mixture of French-Canadian and Italian. I love the fact that we can all come as one in our country, but some people don't make the welcome so warming. Immigration is what made this country what it is and there is nothing negative about it in my eyes. People give up their lives just to come here and start a new one, yet we're here acting like we belong here and we don't even appreciate the luxuries we get.

Group Poem

1) The importance of the title is the title itself. Working together canbe so many things, good and bad.
2) the tone of the poem is calm. The poem's having a message of self expression and not worrying about fitting in.
3) The mood is an "at peace" sort of vibe. The setting makes you feel calm and have no worries in the world.
4) The poem shifts by saying that the world is formed around us, be we also have to form around it.
5) The theme is working together. If we all get a long and cooperate we can do miraculous things.

These Dreams of You

I've always pondered if everything we see is really what is beyond the physical world. It definitely isn't. I know that nothing is really real. Just like a dream. Yes, the laws of physics do apply. If you think about though, if we could use a higher capacity of our mind how much of the world that we think is hard world turn stupidly simple. There's always theories such as; "What if your entire life is someone else's dream?" which I personally don't agree with. I think it's interesting, but no life is an illusion more than a dream. Anything in this world you can change. Your mind has the power to change it. The reason why it might seem difficult at times is because there's 7 billion other minds trying to mend the world in the way they want it to be as well. I truly believe the universe gives you what you give back to it. I do believe in fait/destiny, so there is things out of our control, but the phrase "The world is yours." is simple,  but holds a lot of value to it. I remember when I was about 4 years old, it was a popular style to have a rat tail in the back of your hair. Parents would tie the rat tail in a ponytail, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It obviously takes time to grow and you have to have certain genetics to even have one. So that entire day, that's all my mind focused on, "I want that rat tail, I want that rat tail", I constantly chanted in my head. I prayed and wished and look to the stars, and then I decided I already had one, I had absolute faith that when I woke up I'd have one. The next morning, I went in to the mirror, what do you know, I had myself a rat tail haircut. My mom wasn't too happy. Anyways, that might not prove anything but I think it's pretty amazing how I told my mind to do something and it simply responded. Never doubt yourself, because life is always more than meets the eye.

Under Pressure & Back in the High Life

I personally do not like pressure. Pressure gives me migraines. I'm the kind of person that takes a small pressure and turn it into a huge ordeal. I will obsessively think about what I have to get done and how far I have to go to get where I need to be and just shut down. Competitive wise, I can get very scary. There's no one more competitive than I am. Thank goodness, it's not a trait that always shows and I've learned how to control it. I do think for most people, that pressure is good. Not too much, and not too little. Everything needs to have balance, if you put too much energy in to the obstacle you have to face you'll wear yourself out. My favorite type of pressure is time restrains, because I am the ultimate procrastinator. I can do an entire class project in the last 3 hours of the night before it's due. Sadly, pressure doesn't really intimidate me, so there's nothing pushing me to do my best or try, so usually I don't end up becoming the hero and doing my best. I only do my best if it's something I'm very passionate at/in.
